Building Design

Our team will walk you through the steps of the design process, work with you to turn your ideas into plans, incorporate all your preferences and eventually create a project you will be 100% satisfied with. The outcome will be a set of plans including:

  • site plan
  • floor plans
  • sections
  • elevations

Structural engineering design focuses on one primary goal: safety. The forces of nature can be significant on a building especially that we live  in an earthquake prone region. Our design, calculations and specifications ensure that your project is in compliance with current building code and that it stands safe in normal conditions and during a major seismic event.

Permits and Expediting

Literally any construction project requires that a building permit be obtained from your city’s Building and Safety department. Although each construction project is different, most of them require a permit application package with the following content:

  • building design drawings
  • structural design and calculations
  • other supporting documents

Our team of drafters, designers, engineers and permit expediters will create the necessary permit application package and we will gladly submit it to the Building and Safety department on your behalf. We can also be of assistance with obtaining the necessary supporting documents such as

  • survey
  • geological (soils) report
  • grading and drainage plan
  • Title 24 energy calculations

Structural observations

The State of California mandates that the engineer of record make regular visits to the construction site and sign off on certain parts of the structure being built. This is an important protection measure for you that ensures contractors build your project according to the specifications of the approved set of plans.
